Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Thought I would post some photos that I took whilst out for a walk the other day near where we live. It was a beautiful day even though the sun wasn't shining.

New Oven !

Well just got back from shopping trip for an oven. Think one store was about to call security on our 5th trip back into the store!!! It's funny you don't see a salesperson for hours and then keep bumping into the same one! Anyway bought oven and hopefully delivered on Thursday. Hope it's okay.

Aaaarrrgggghhhh - no oven!

Just typical - put the oven on last night and went upstairs to tidy up. Came down thinking dinner would be almost ready to find................yup you guessed it ..............oven not working!!! Grill works but not the oven! Had to try and heat the dinner up in the microwave as it had gone cold and then grill the top to brown it!!!! Not happy this morning! Hate shopping at the best of times and now we have to go out, tackle the sales and the heavy rain - oh joy!!!!
I probably burnt the oven out on Christmas day!

Merry Christmas Everyone

Merry Christmas Everyone - hope you all have a lovely Christmas.

Thought I would post my favourite Christmas poem xx

Twas the Night before Christmas
Poem by Clement Moore

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Lunar eclipse

Went out this morning to see the lunar eclipse. It was a bit of a mad dash as should have been getting ready for work, so guess what - yup I was late for work!!. I had my pyjamas on under big coat, boots, hat, scarf - not a good look!!!! According to the news 'The lunar ecclipse was coinciding with the winter solstice (shortest day). Apparently NASA reports that the last time these astronomical events took place together was 21 Dec 1638, and it won't happen again until at least 2094!!!! Not only was I dressed like a mad woman I also had the wrong lens on the camera and couldn't find the tripod, wrong settings..... so photos not good, but it was an amazing sight (the eclipse not me!)

Holly House decorated for Christmas (well - almost!)

Here are some more photos of Holly House! Still got lots to do on this house but will get there one day! The first one shows the lounge with my new candles on the fireplace (after Christmas these will go into the witchy room in the attic). I painted all the walls cream in the house and have to say when you see it in photographs it's pretty bland so might have to have a re-think!

Next is the dining room and I have just noticed that the star on top of the tree is missing and the bottle of wine on the table has fallen (I moved the house earlier on so must have knocked these down). The little dolls house was purchased in a shop in Edinburgh years ago but I fancy having a go at painting it now -although as some you know painting is not one of my skilled areas :-)

Next is a close up of Mr & Mrs Gingerbread!! Also shows the gingerbread house

Lastly but certainly not least is a close up of the cauldron full of soup, bowls of soup and one of the jars of pumpkin soup.

Quick update

Haven't posted for a while - work is hectic, getting ready for Christmas is hectic and not been too well, but on the mend now I think. My Doctor has been really good I have to say. The diet has gone a bit haywire and struggling with the new Weightwatchers plan but I am sure I will get there!!!

I just hope I'm ready for Christmas - still got cards to write and pressies to wrap and I have decided I am going to try a bit of baking - must be mad!!!! If it works I will take photos!

Hubs and I also had some worrying news about our jobs. One of hubs' colleagues was made redundant on Tuesday night and it was a bit of a shock but hubs has been told that his job should be okay - but we'll wait and see! Obviously it means more work for him! We have decided to really try and tighten our belts even more now. My job is under threat as the Hospital has to save money. We have to undergo a work review and also attend cost cutting workshops & there's a rumour that we will have to reapply for our jobs and if not successful we will be dropped two bands!! So far there is no mention of cutbacks on the huge number of managers that have sprung up in the last 3 years!

I decided to write this down because I firmy believe that once you've written something down you get it off your chest so by doing this I might sleep tonight!!

Kitchen in Holly House

Here's a photo of my kitchen in Holly House. Still got bits to do but I do like it now it since its little revamp.

You will see in the photo the cauldron, bowls of pumpkin soup and jars of pumpkin soup that I bought from Kat the Hat Lady. They should be in my witchy room but I just love them in here! They were beautifully presented on a late tile - unfortunately butter fingers here dropped it!! You can also probably just make out a tray with two gingerbread men and my gingerbread house - I have had these two items for years now and cannot remember where they came from. I have now started logging everything I buy.

This was taken with my new little camera and I am going to try and take some more photos of my house - still haven't read the manual!

York Doll House Show Part Deux

Well I have finally got round to taking some photos of the goodies that I bought at York last week - feels like it was ages ago - must have something to do with the weather!!! I am sorry about the photos but we have not had any sun today and it's really dark and grey - I am also trying out a new camera which was only purchased yesterday evening so had no chance to read the manual!!!!!

The first one shows the wonderful chair I bought from ELF miniatures (this will go into Lake View when I finally start on it!) and also shows the hour glass, broom, hat and pumpkin, candles (one of which glows in the dark) and the working hour glass all of which I bought from Mags-nificent Miniatures.
The next photo shows one of the blanket boxes (I bought two) to use as bedside tables - I wanted something different. The light came from ELF miniatures which I just loved and I needed a slightly bigger table for it so hence the blanket style box.

York Dolls House Show

Hubs and I went to the York show today. It was really enjoyable. Weren't too sure if we would get there with the bad weather but no problems at all. Very heavy snow on the way back though and it's still snowing now!!

I went with a list and managed to get 3 items from that and then the list went out the window! I bought a chair from ELF miniatures and saw the kitchens and then bought some candles, a working hour glass and a witchy hat, broom and pumpkin from Mags-nificent Miniatures!!! Will post photographs later on - probably next weekend when I will try to photograph in the daylight.

Anyway off for a cup of tea and I think it might be an early night ready for an extra-early start in the morning with the bad weather. We must have about 6" of snow here and more snow set for overnight.

Mini Witchy Goodies & Remembrance Poppy

I ordered some spell candles, wand and scrolls from Dfly Creations and they have all arrived safely and look amazing. I am thrilled. The photo does not do them justice but my hands are quite bad today and my camera is quite heavy!!!! They are going to look so good in my witchy room - just need to get some new furniture for it and I need to get some work done on my house.

Last week I ordered this stunninng Poppy brooch from the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Unfortunately it only arrived today but at least I can still wear it for a few days. It's gorgous - small and delicate! I don't do bling and this might look sparkly in the photo but it's not as sparkly when on (it's the flash that's caused most of the bling as it looks a lot darker in real life!)

Trip to A&E and undignified entrance into a Range Rover

Well some week this was - hubs fell over at work and thought he had broken his foot as it felt the same as the last time he broke his foot. His boss brought him into A&E where I met him (I work in the same hospital!). Anyway after an hour of waiting he finally saw someone who told him that he had damaged the ligaments and it would take a couple of weeks to heal and some bruising would appear and he did not require an x-ray!

As he had left his car at work he phoned his boss to come and pick us both up. Boss duly arrived in the latest Range Rover model - very nice!

However I am 5' 1" and trying to get into the back of the Range Rover was probably one of the most undignified entrances I have ever made!!!! I had to throw my bags into the back and then try and haul myself up into the car whilst holding my skirt down!!! I am pretty sure that somewhere I will be on a security camera and might even be on you tube by now! You would think that an 'all singing/all dancing' car would have footholds and a rope ladder built into it for us small people!

Hello new followers!

Just wanted to say hi to a couple of new followers - they are Jean (who has two blogs) and Fee Easton - pop over to their blogs - very different. Fee's is mostly photography (which is my other passion) and has some stunning photographs and Jean's are all about crafts.

Happy Halloween Everyone

The title says it all - hope you all have a good halloween.

I am suffering a litle bit this morning - hubs and I went to a Halloween Party (last minute decision!). I didn't really have a costume, so I just simply put on a black skirt and top, stripey tights, black nail varnish and put on my witches hat which I bought from this wonderful lady, Jane a few years ago and I grunged a label up saying 'Witch - chilling and having some time out before the busiest night of the year'!! Went down okay and I didn't feel too stupid when walking home - a little bit tipsy to say the least!!!!

We are now off to Ikea (aarrgghh on a Sunday!) as I need to get some more candles - didn't realise how low my stocks were. So if you are in Ikea at Gateshead today and you see someone who looks as though they may have a little bit of a hangover and wearing black nails - it's me!!!!!!!

Aaarrgghhh Bullying at Work,Hubs birthday & Miniatures!!!

Had a wonderful weekend. The sun was glorious yesterday and the autumn colours just stunning. Went back to Fountains Abbey.

It is hubs birthday today but we kind of celebrated last night as we are always so tired when we finish work. He got a couple of pressies early but sadly one hasn't arrived but hopefully it will arrive with the Postman today when we are at work. Hope so as quite anxious to see it myself - obviously cannot say what it is as hubs reads my posts!!!

Not loooking forward to work - last week ended with fireworks and all the bullying that has been going on in the department by two Nursing Sisters coming to a head although maybe it's a good thing that some of it is out in the open! Anyway to keep my mind off things I know I will be extra busy as my colleague is off for two days so I have all her work to do as well. We also had a meeting last week and were told 'more for less' (we have been doing that anyway for about three years)!!

I have also got lots of plans for my dolls house and they keep whirring around in my head so I think today will be one of those days when I switch off and have nice thoughts of miniatures!!!!!

Fountains Abbey by Floodlight Part Deux !

We had a wonderful night last night and it was soooo warm we couldn't believe it - compared to this time last year when it was so cold and icy!!!! We were worried on the way down as the traffic came to a complete halt and we could see flashing lights in the distance but we got there in the end. These are definitely not the best photos - I had forgotten my reading glasses and couldn't see a thing!!!!

This was of a small bridge in Fountains Abbey

And this last one just appealed to me - looking spooky!!! There were bats flying around at this point.

Mini Storage Jars & Jug

I think I'm a bit like a bus - nothing for weeks and then three posts in one day!!!!

Anyway I had tried making storage jars for my kitchen (doll's house of course) and as some of you know I am not the most talented!!!! So I bought some from Dolls House Emporium at Carlisle and to be honest by the time I had bought everything to make them it was just as cheap to buy! Anyway the colour is perfect for my kitchen but I photographed these in the real sized kitchen !

I am off now to try the brickwork for Lake View!!!

Fountains Abbey by Floodlight

Tonight hubs and I are going to Fountains Abbey - it is floodlit for the Saturday evenings in October and is just beautiful. There is a choir singing between 8 - 9 pm and all around the abbey they have music in the form of Gregorian chanting. The weather is not too good up here today - quite drizzly and misty but supposed to dry up for tonight although I don't think it will be a clear night but the atmosphere will still be wonderful.

This is where the choir usually sing:

Holiday photos - already a distant memory!

Well my first week back was the usual - yeugh!!!!! It's amazing that only two weeks away and you do actually start to forget how bad things are and how much bullying goes on - but within 30 minutes of being back it was like being run over by a steam roller!!!! But I didn't stay back at all as I promised so quite proud of myself.

Anyway have finally got round to sorting some photos out from our wonderful holiday and here goes:

This is Fort George - an amazing place and well worth a trip. If you are lucky you can see dolphins from here. The day we went it was very windy and as you can see we had dark broody skies which added to the atmosphere.

The next three are from Eilean Donan Castle - my favourite castle of all times. Two photos of the castle and one of the views from the castle. It is magical here and well worth a trip. It is described as the most beautiful castle in Scotland but I think it goes much further than that! They have shot a number of films here including Highlander, Loch Ness, James Bond - The World is Not Enough. The day we went was just beautiful - warm and sunny but even on a wet and windy day this place has so much atmosphere and still looks beautiful.

Will post some more up later - as now off to make curried butternut squash soup - yum, yum!

Hello - new followers

Hello to new followers - they are Lara and Clara who both have lovely blogs - pop over. I am really sorry I haven't said hello sooner!

End of Holiday & Back to Work

Well this is it! The end of a wonderful fortnight's holiday. Had a great time and wish it didn't have to end. However, as the saying goes..............'all good things come to an end'. This morning I feel sick and have started shaking!!! Aargghh. Pretty sure by tonight I will be in complete agony again and a thumping headache!!!!

I have also started back on my diet - well after putting weight on what else was I to do? I now have a year to try and get ready for the Great North Run!!!!

I only bought a couple of things miniature wise whilst on holiday but am inspired to start work on Lake View so this coming weekend will probably be my first opportunity.

I will post some photos up of our wonderful holiday later.

I changed my blog last night and couldn't change it back - it just wouldn't let me!!!!!

Monday, 30 August 2010

Welcome and a quick update on everything else!

Well it's been a while (yet again!) and I have new followers - hello! They are Peggy who has a lovely blog (pop over and have a look) and Looking Glass Miniatures who has four blogs and all lovely!

Update on the clothes - well what can I say....................I am in between sizes and my waist seems to have gone down faster than anywhere else! In other words skirts now drop down to my good old hips. Managed to buy one denim skirt that has some kind of stretchy fabric built in so at least it won't drop down completely!!! That would be a sight! My Berghaus jacket now fastens completely with lots of room to spare so at least that theory worked a few months ago - buy it and shrink into it!!! Managed to buy a couple of blouses and t-shirts too! A lovely Per Una linen jacket that I purchased at Christmas ('cos it was a bargain!) fits now too!

Still wanting to purchase a small point and shoot camera to go alongside my DSLR but oh what decisions!! I am a Canon girl but quite like the Panasonic Lumix (but the more expensive ones!).

Now for Lake View .................................... nothing to say -sorry! I must get back into it but I think it will probably be after my holiday now. 3 days at work this week and then that's it - off to Scotland to see my Aunts, Uncles, cousins - whoo hoo! Then Aviemore and the Cairngorms (my favourite place !). Having said all this I wanted to buy Lake View because of some houses I saw in the Cairngorm region. I am hoping to find a name for Lake View whilst up there too.

I had this weird and wonderful idea for the roof for Lake View having watched too many hours of Grand Designs and I fancied a copper style roof! Hubs just looked at me - but I think it would look different. I have no idea how we would do it so any suggestions welcome!

Sunday, 22 August 2010

Help - no clothes!!!

Just a quick post! As we are going away in a couple of weeks to the Cairngorms I decided to try on some trousers (don't really do trousers unless I have a coat on to hide my enormous backside) Well...............they don't fit! Two pairs have literally fallen off me!!! I cannot believe it.

I am going to need some more money to buy one or two things - I now have such a small wardrobe as nothing fits (in the good sense of course!). I had to clear out lots of clothes last week. I have such a long way to go and cannot believe it! Whoo, hoo!!! Hubs said we will go out next weekend when he is off work for two days to look for some clothes but to be honest I don't even know where to begin!

Now for Lake View - sorry folks whilst I have been lurking around in blogland and making the odd comment I just have not had chance to touch Lake View. I must make more effort but I think while the nights are still light I am doing other things or too tired after work to even contemplate Lake View but my head is still spinning with lots of ideas and I keep watching Grand Designs!!!!

Celebrating 100 years - NOT mine!!!!

Not been around for a while - sorry!!! Not been too good but finally starting to feel so much better. I still haven't time for any mini work and I'm really missing it. Might get chance tomorrow but I very much doubt it.

I am off to get ready as we are off out very early. We are going to a 60th birthday party this evening (early) and tomorrow afternoon from 2.00 pm to late we are off to a 40th - hence the title 'Celebrating 100 years'! Must try not to drink too much!!!

Fake tan is on slowly developing - and I am praying it is not streaky, although knowing my luck it will be!!

I am hoping that at least one person comments on the fact that I have lost weight but I very much doubt it!! I have now lost a total of 31 lbs!!!

Saturday, 7 August 2010

Hello - new follower & also change of blog!

I have a new follower and wanted to say hello ! It's Marlene who has two beautiful blogs which are both beautiful and inspirational. If you haven't come across them pop over and have a look!
I decided this morning to try and change my blog. I think it looks fresher and that was just what I needed.

Sunday, 1 August 2010

Aarrgh Highway to Hell !

Sorry guys not been around for a while - not been too well and exhausted. Today, we are taking hub's aunt back to Lowestoft - roughly 4 1/2 hour journey each way! ACDC''s song Highway to Hell always reminds me of the journey for some reason!!! We will be setting off in about 1/2 hour. The song was aptly played on Thurdsay morning by Chris Evans on Radio 2 as well just as I was pulling into work - very apt I thought!
Was hoping to have another go at the brick work today on Lake View but there's always next week!

Mini mail arrived & hospital visit

Went off to the Hospital today - tons of blood taken (thank goodness I hadn't drunk alcohol for a few days!) and x-rays. I think the two radiographers had a sadistic streak in them in asking me to get into a position that a person my age shouldn't be asked!!!!! I am pretty sure they did it for a laugh!

Anyway came home tonight and found a package with some miniature mail that I had ordered from Linda at Une Petite Folie. The mail is beautiful and cheered me up. Thank you Linda.

It was so weird because I had ordered the mini mail from Linda and the day after I ordered it Susan from Minicrochetmad had sent me a memento box and mini mail as a thank you and as I said earlier in a post is one of the nicest presents I have ever received. (Susan made the memento box from here). I have put up photos. Susan's mail is in place on a little stool/table I have painted but not yet finished and I also made the tea pot! Linda's mail is not in place yet (it will be going on a new desk I have ordered). The book cover was from Lizelund blog. I still haven't re-decorated the wall but will do.............eventually!

Anyway that's enough for now - I think I have waffled a bit tonight (that's what lack of sleep does) and also repeated myself!!!!!

Purchases from York

Well, I am pretty pleased with myself. I more or less stuck to my shopping list although we did go down with the intention of buying the fibreglass sheets of bricks but changed our mind and bought the stencil and brick compound made by Bromley Craft Products. The chap who owns the shop spent a lot of time showing us all the different finishes and telling us what to do as well. I am pretty sure I have seen some of you out there using either this product or something similar and decided to take the bull by the horn and have a go!!!! I think reading everyones blogs has given me a bit more confidence!!! AARRGGHH.

I did see a lovely pink spotty flower pot and lillies and a matching watering can and would you believe it I forgot to buy them!!!! I might go back on Tuesday after I have been to the Hospital in Leeds!
Also bought the stain for the balcony and decking on the Lake View house but I am still not sure as I really like the natural colour of the balcony railings and window frames which is wood but the decking is mdf. Part of the front door is also wood but the top part is mdf again! So no idea what to really do with the mdf - suggestions on a postcard please!

York - Miniature Scene

Just heading off to York and going to the Miniature Scene - whoo hoo!!!! Only thing is hubs wants to be back for the start of the British Grand Prix! Thankfully it feels cooler today so won't be too bad walking around. I am going to get some of the textured paint for the Lake View house. I have tried unsuccessfully to mix paint and sand - so yet again the easy option for me. I also want to have a look at bricks.

Amazing weight loss!!

Whoo hoo I have had an amazing weight loss this week - I lost 6lbs!!!!  After being ill I did lose 8 but by the end of the week after eating normally again the final loss was 6lbs!   I still have a mountain to climb but I am at the lowest weight I have been for two years!  I am so happy.  Wasn't nice being ill but ...........

NOT WELL & THEN MINI MAIL TO CHEER ME UP!

I have not been well at all for a few days - even had to have a day off work, which I don't do very often. Got some new tablets from the Doctors and don't know whether I had a huge reaction to them or what?! Won't be boring with the details but suffice to say it wasn't pleasant! And fingers crossed I might get a good weight loss this week - which I really need. The fat is going nowhere fast at the moment!

BUT THEN..........................came back from the Doctor's to find mail from Susan at Minicrochetmad - a thank you card, the most delightful memento box and mini mail! I couldn't believe it . It really cheered me up no end. The colour of the box goes beautifully with my bedding (spooky or what?). I can't believe it and I just keep looking at it all. Susan got the tutorial for the box from here. I don't know what to say apart from a huge THANK YOU!

I tried to photograph the memento box and mail on the card Susan sent me. The bed frame is one of my first attempts at shabbying (can't say chic at this stage!) but wanted to show you what I mean about the box matching the bedding. The bedding was bought a few years ago and I have been trying to find out if the person still makes bedding. I think she went by the name of Dawn and Daisy Chain Interiors - if anyone knows would be grateful.

Hello to new followers!

My goodness I have some new followers - hello to you all and thank you for following my blog:
  • Irene - who has an amazing blog about an old historical Scottish Tenement (and links to her other blogs)

  • Lorraine - who makes amazing things and yet again another wonderful blog

  • Marion - whose witchy blog is just wonderful and there are links to her other blogs which are just as lovely

  • Oiseau deNim - another lovely blog and the mini food is just beautiful

More Practice Part Deux & Dis'n'Dat!

Well, thanks to the darn rain I had some more time to practice making miniatures, whilst hubby painting bathroom (real size one)! I shabbied a candlestick which as you all know comes naturally to me!!! I also finished my little frames which I started a couple of weeks ago but couldn't find the tiny ribbons I had bought for them! It's my age I just keep forgetting where I have put things! Anyway I put my books and pitcher into the lounge and when tucked away into the far corner at a distance they don't look as bad! I also managed to shabby an old bed frame I've got and I will try to photograph that and post the piccies tomorrow night (after all we need a laugh on a Monday night to chase away that Monday feeling).

Anyway my real life bedroom is finished and I have to say looks quite nice and the bathroom is almost finished although that's just temporary until we have decided whether or not to pull the bath out and put in a large shower! Temporary to us though is quite a while! Ha, ha!

I hope work this week is better - think last week was probably one of the lowest points workwise. The department is certainly getting worse each day and to think a year ago we thought it couldn't get any worse. But I am prepared - I have my Rescue Remedy in my bag and the tissues at the ready!

Weightwise not a good week again !! Stayed the same again !! Think it might have had something to do with the takeaway and the vino! Hoping for a better week, although I do know that next Saturday will be a night of a lot of drinking and eating so need to save points for that!

Anyway the darned rain has finally stopped and it looks like it could be a lovely sunset - here's one I prepared earlier!

Making miniatures - more practice!

Well I was inspired by everyone else to make some books and pitchers. However, mine are not so good and I think or hope that 'practice makes perfect' athough I would settle for 'practice makes them better'!!!! On the books I realise there are gaps between the wood and the paper but didn't realise it was that bad until I saw the photos!!! But once on the shelves/tables, etc you might not notice - now where did I put those reading glasses??! The book covers were printables from Carolm and Lize and I am really sorry that I couldn't do your printies justice! The pitchers were courtesy of Marlies . I didn't really have the correct paper, etc so am off to buy some bits and pieces this week and have another go. The pink pitcher looks like one my mother-in-law has and has been painted several times over the years. I also tried to make a pitcher for my witches bedroom!!! I hope you don't all laugh too much! I was also trying to make these in between work and decorating - not a good idea. I have the ideas but I think I should stick to buying rather than making!

I haven't done any more work on Lake View and have come to a bit of a halt. I will need to get myself into gear and get cracking on it - it is still sat on our dining room table. Was going to paint the outside white but think it might be a bit too much so it might be more of a creamy colour, but tomorrow could be another change of mind!

On the weight side - stayed the same! Not surprising as had been naughty! Haven't done any exercising at all this week apart from a bit of walking so must sort that out this week too.

Not done much this weekend apart from helping hubby paint our bedroom - well at least I made cups of tea and cooked the dinner!!!!! It is all finished apart from the curtains to go up and it looks lovely.

Cynthia's Minilife- Giveaway

This 'n' That

Haven't been posting for a while as work is really hectic and not pleasant at the moment. I keep threatening to do one of these 'secret blogs' where no-one knows me at all and write down what's going on at work!!!! The amount of bullying that goes on is unreal and the number of managers employed who do nothing all day is such a complete waste of money!!! Our work load has more than trebled in the last year and I have been told this week I will be getting more! Still now that's off my chest I feel better already.
The other reason for not posting is probably due to work I have not been too well - I have a couple of joint problems (skeleton not the other!!!!) but feeling a bit better today. BUT, I have managed to start losing weight again - lost 2lbs this week - whoo hoo!!! Mind, whilst I haven't been posting, I have been following all the other blogs.
I am still trying to work out a name for my new Lake View house. Hubby has now built the shell of the house and I had initially decided that I would paint the outside white; however today I am not so sure and think a creamy colour might be better. Then I didn't want textured paint but again today I have changed my mind - that's women for you! Having been inspired by everyone's blogs and the wonderful work they do, I have painted some resin furniture that I bought from Dolls House Emporium a few years ago. Instead of brown it is now white. I also painted a little teapot and so far I am fairly happy with the result - it's not as beautiful as everyone else's but it looks better than before. I am going to try and put some mole hills into my garden on my original house today too.
I am also looking forward to going to York Dolls House Show next weekend and like the last time I have a list and ideas of what I am looking for!
I was trying to work out if I had my security settings on Facebook correct and for some reason couldn't - so persuaded hubby to open an account! I know it sounds stupid but to me who is illogical it made sense! Anyway he duly did with the intention of cancelling the account. Anyway out of the blue yesterday he gets a message from an old friend who we have not seen for over 20 years!!!! Just goes to show that even though Facebook gets a lot of bad publicity there are some bright bits! So we are going to meet up with him and his wife for a drink and a good old natter.

Building Lake View part one & revamp of original house

Well hubby helped start the building work on the Lake View House - still haven't got a name for it but one or two ideas are buzzing around in my head at the moment. I think it is going to be a slow steady process - we never seem to have much time these days. Anyway have attached a couple of photos - excuse the mess and the bad lighting as this was late at night. Not only do I have the names going round in my head, but all the room ideas as well which keep changing!

Have also attached some photos of my original house showing the changing kitchen. Hubby had bought me the kitchen as part of my Wedding Anniversary present - sorry for the photos but my small camera is not working and with my joints being bad at the moment, I am haivng trouble holding the DSLR camera. Have also shown a couple of the basement garden (wish I had taken before photos) - again these are not so good but hey that's life! The kitchen is not finished. I am hoping to try and colourwash the floor this weekend.

Before & After

And now the garden - again not finished.
