Monday 21 December 2009

Well, a few days to go before the big day! Pressies are all wrapped although I do need one tin of chocolates for work and they are all in bags ready to be taken with me this morning to work so I can deliver quite a few this week. Very organised for me. Unfortunately cards aren't too organised and still writing - some now need to go 1st class!!
Still got snow and more forecast. Had to buy some new wellies yesterday and will post a photo later - promise!
It's going to be a hard week at work - especially as one of the secretaries (the most intimidating person I have ever met and a complete bully - our department seems to attract bullies!) has this bright idea that we can get all our work up-to-date by 04.01.10 (for me that means 23.12.09) as our line manager (a nursing sister) has told her that we will all have to pool our work soon and this is her idea of stopping it. Well that's fine in hindsight but she doesn't have the same workload that some of us have and her work standard is terrible and she desn't realise pooling the work won't decrease the workload. As another secretary pointed out aren't we going to be asked by management why we needed overtime for the last few months if we can suddenly catch up with the work now the overtime has stopped!!! Anyway off to get read to go to work for a very hard week ahead of me.

Tree & gift tags

Well, Christmas is almost here. We have had quite a bit of snow and it's still white and very cold. It would be so nice if we could have a white Christmas (I have never had one!). Today I have not stopped getting everything ready in the house. I still have a lot of cards to write and some to post and some to hand deliver. I also have some presents to wrap which I think I will do tonight - we are not going out tonight.

We decorated the tree last week and put all the other decorations up. The tree looks lovely and every year I say 'it looks the best'! Anyway I like it. The gift tags I have now been making for a couple of years - I use Christmas cards and tear them and then 'grunge' them with coffee, cinammon and vanilla. I pop them in the oven for a few minutes to 'bake'.

Lowestoft & back

Well today we were up at 4 am - on the road by 5.30 am to Lowestoft to pick up hubby's Aunt.
We saw the sunrise and the sunset whilst on the road - 9 1/2 hours in total on the road today. And after Christmas we have it all to do again.
Think my diet has gone out the window today - we are going to have a take away tonight.

10 December 2009

Well, I got the results of the MRI scan - severe arthritis! The options for treatment were painkillers & anti-inflammatory tablets (which I already take), injection into one of the joints and the third option is surgery with more risks than benefits and involves taking bits of bone off and fusing together in my wrist and hand! Sticking to the injections.
Work was really bad again this week. We have had too many changes and the place is a shambles. We have bad management and their attitude is 'cascading down' to other staff members. Admin staff have to make too many decisions and take responsibility as we cannot get answers from management and we are all sick of highlighting potential problems. We have decided from now on that we should keep quiet. We are also having a meeting in the New Year and are worried that we are going to be told there will be redundancies.
My dolls house is starting to look really good. The kitchen is now painted and I have put my old units back in but still not happy with them. I would love a kitchen from Elf Kitchens and after Christmas will send my kitchen measurements and any ideas I have and see if Elf Kitchens can help me come up with some plans.
I have decorated my dolls house for Christmas and it does look nice even if I say so myself!
Anyway got some more Christmas shopping done and bought our tree which looks lovely and I will post a photo. I still don't feel Christmassy though.
